Sun City Kitchen Reconfiguration October 11, 2018 By Stacey Ranieri Full View of KitchenBy removing the wall, that separated the kitchen from the family room, we added a peninsula, with overhang and additional storage cabinet, so the homeowner has additional seating space and prep area. The chrome drop pendant lights provide lighting and continue the modern theme. Gray, engineered quartz countertops make the glass and metal mosaic tile backsplash stand out. Sleek, white slab cabinet doors are crisp and easy to wipe clean. We added can lights to give ample light in the kitchen. Wood look, porcelain plank tiles, laid throughout the home, makes the home appear much larger.Old refrigerator locationOld refrigerator locationAn unobstructed, open space. Wall be gone!View into the family room. Why would anyone want a wall in the way to close off this space? Now the homeowner can watch TV while prepping dinner.Old kitchen with wallOld kitchen layout, closed off from the living space.Kitchen View of New Refrigerator LocationThe new, built in refrigerator location also houses a double door pantry with adjustable shelving for ample storage space. The old fridge location houses another pantry cabinet. Now the dining area (to the left of the pantry) is open to the kitchen and the home is much brighter.Old fluorescent lightingOld flourescent lighting doesn't provide adequate light. The old "pantry" was trapped in an unnecessary wall.
